► "Project
School Bell" - Clothing, personal hygiene items, and
Prescription for Student Retention Program. 2010-2011 Chair:
Stacy Minner. This program
works to improve the self esteem of elementary through high
school students. Students are identified by the Lincoln County
School District’s staff based on their needs for additional
assistance and at the beginning of the school year, clothing and
personal hygiene items are provided.
Project School Bell works with the school district
throughout the year, going on several shopping trips. Through
improving the self image of these children, we hope to encourage
these students to stay in school. Project School Bell also pays
for prescriptions that are needed by students who are unable to
pay for needed medications. .
|
| ► Something to Smile About" -
Dental Program - 2010-2011 Chair: Cindy McConnell.
“Something to Smile About” is a very successful program that
focuses on dental hygiene as preventative care, as well as
urgent dental treatment needs of school aged children. The
program provides dental kits, educational information, and
sponsors a dental van through Medical Teams International,
to visit local schools. |
| ►
Literacy Project - 2010-2011
Chair: Tamara Rosser.
This year, the Literacy Committee is
planning a book sale for Make a Difference Day on October
23rd. Gently used books, cds, and dvds have been collected
and will be for sale at Yaquina View Elementary School.
In addition, the committee
provides mini-grants to area teachers to expand their
classroom libraries. They also fundraise by selling
beautiful hand-painted Christmas ornaments and candy bars. |
