| School Supplies |
|
|
Because South Pierce County is one of the
most transient areas for school children in the state, Altrusa of
South Pierce County chose donating school supplies to three schools
in the area, Keithley Middle School, Spanaway Grade School and
Harvard Elementary. We will be helping approximately 900 students
with some of their required items as well as money for whatever is
needed. |

Altrusa
International of South Pierce County collected and presented
600 lbs of
"Food For Families and a check to Spanaway Methodist and
Trinity Food Banks". |
|
| |
| Add an
Altrusan Event |
|
It started out as an informal
affair with members each asking one prospective
member to attend. No formal invitations would be mailed
as done last time. Food was planned ("heavy" hors
d'oeuvres) and a sign-up list was sent around. The
"program" would be playing Altrusa Bingo with prizes!
Then unexpected items were added
to the
program. Our previous meeting's
program had been cancelled and those presenters wanted
to come to the "Add an Altrusan Event". Of course the
answer was "yes".
|
 |
|
Then the District Governor, Lorraine
Michelson, called to ask if she could attend for her
official visitation and bring a potential member. Again,
the answer was "yes". That
evening we had six potential members as guests. It was a
great opportunity for them to hear about our next service
project: "Accelerated Reader" and to meet our District
Governor. What seemed to be too much for one night, turned
out to be just right! Our potential members were impressed
and each one took home a prize and a membership form. Time
will tell how many will actually join!
