Altrusa members of Longview-Kelso take on a new project;
Backpack Buddies. From purchase of food items children can
prepare themselves to sorting the food into weekend packages
Altrusans took on the project enthusiastically. Every Friday
children who go home to a house with limited or no food get
their backpack filled with enough food items to feed themselves
through the weekend.
China
Orphan Project
As
members of an International service organization we also have the
opportunity to give service on an international level. Altrusa
International of Longview-Kelso through the China Orphan Project
provides valuable service in China. From Hugging Grannies who
provide the much-needed human contact for infants and young
children, to foster care placement, school tuitions and
medical/surgical care the needs are many. Our dollars make it
possible for children to grow up in a healthier environment, attend

I Have A
Dream Project
Is another major
service project for Altrusa International of Longview/Kelso. In
addition to contributing $5,000 per year, for ten years, to support
the project club members volunteer to help tutor students, serve as
mentors, supervise students during field trips and participate in
special events.
