Christmas Stockings
Each year one of our members sews for us between 30 and 35 large felt Christmas Stockings. Another member hosts a decorating party with all the fabric, rick rack, dingle balls, paints etc. and we have a great evening with a potluck dinner and then we listen to Elvis singing Christmas songs and decorate the stockings. At the end of out business meeting in December we fill the stocking with toys, games, and
Christmas goodies, for the "adult" recipients bought by a committee and then they're forwarded to our adopted family at the YWCA Family Village; our single mothers at Harrington House temporary shelter for newly delivered homeless mothers; and the remaining 20-24 stocking are sent to Fairfax Hospital, a juvenile lock-down facility for youngsters with behavioral disorders.
