Check Presentation
- Altrusa of Gig Harbor presents the
initial $30,000 payment of their $100,000 pledge at
groundbreaking for the community's new Boy's & Girl's Club Hope
Center. The $100,000 will equip a community kitchen that will
permit groups and organizations to cater large groups for meals
as well as serving the daily needs of local children. Shown here
with the ceremonial check and the members of the club and the
board of the Boy's & Girl's Club of South Puget Sound. |

|
| The Peninsula
Youth Orchestra
- An ongoing commitment of funding and support by
the Altrusa Foundation has helped this local
teaching orchestra to grow from a few students to
close to 100 students in multiple skill levels. The
organization continues to develop into a stable and
well-respected teaching and performing organization,
and Altrusa continues to help the orchestra with
funding for student scholarships. Program graduates
are continuing on to build careers in their chosen
musical specialties. |

Green Gables Edgewater, a gorgeous Bed
& Breakfast located on Henderson Bay, was the setting for a
glorious evening of live music, spectacular wines, glorious
food and information on the advantages of becoming a member
of Altrusa. The response was terrific! Over 60 guests
attended, and several prospects have continued to visit the
club and are considering membership.
"Patience and persistence is the key to making this
membership drive successful," said President Nancy
Hohenstein. "We compete with hundreds of other opportunities
for involvement in our communities. We need to keep telling
the story of why we are the best option fro people to donate
their time and energy, and we need to prove that we will
welcome and involve them immediately."
And the price? The cost to the club for the event was less
than $50.00. The venue, wine, food and music were donated by
local merchants and individuals. |

 |
 |
 |
 |
|
| Altrusa of Gig
Harbor celebrates Make A Difference Day each year by making,
collecting and combining items for the Tone School for homeless
women and children. This year the effort included creating personal
care kits with hygiene items; knit sets of hats, scarves and
mittens; and supplying school materials such as notebooks, pens,
purses and wallets for the students. |
